Purpur is a Paper fork built around choice: all of Paper's performance and plugin compatibility, plus hundreds of optional gameplay toggles (rideable mobs, mob AI tweaks, per-world settings) — all off by default. Swap your Paper JAR for Purpur and everything carries over.

Quick setup

  1. Download the Purpur JAR (or replace an existing paper.jar).
  2. Install Java 21+ for Minecraft 1.20.5+.
  3. Run the command below.
  4. Set eula=true in eula.txt, then start again.
  5. Enable the features you want in purpur.yml.
java -Xms4G -Xmx4G -jar purpur.jar nogui
