Velocity is PaperMC's high-performance proxy: players connect to one address and move between your lobby, survival, and minigame servers without relogging. It's the modern successor to BungeeCord, with better performance and secure player-info forwarding.
Quick setup
- Download the Velocity JAR into its own folder — it runs separately from your servers.
- Install Java 17+.
- Run the command below; it generates velocity.toml on first start.
- Register your backend servers in velocity.toml and enable modern forwarding.
- Configure each backend for Velocity forwarding, set them to offline mode, and firewall them behind the proxy.
